Tschmyr of Drum Ecstasy band: I hate Belarusian language

The leader of Drum Ecstasy band made a strange statement.

Philippe Tschmyr wrote about his attitude to the Belarusian language on his Facebook page, Nasha Niva reports.

“I hate the Belarusian language as anything people try to impose on me,” he wrote and added: “I am from Minsk. As far as I can remember myself, everyone in our city spoke Russian, expect for Belarusian language teachers at lessons. Even in dacha settlements Belarusian writers spoke to Russian-language people in Russian. Perhaps, they were intelligent people.”

The musician expressed his position earlier in an interview with journalist of tuzin.fm Siarhei Budkin. Tschmyr said he didn't like the Belarusian language and noted he hated the national idea and the people promoting it. It was decided not to emphasise the musician's scandalous remarks in order not to harm his reputation.

Drum Ecstasy is a Belarusian rock band playing heavy dance music using bass guitar sounds backed by three and more drummers.
