Dinamo Minsk edge Traktor for second straight win

Dinamo Minsk edge Traktor for second straight win

It was the first win for the Bisons on the Chelyabinsk ground in the last four years.

Matt Ellison scored two and Ryan Vesce earned two assists in Dinamo Minsk's 3-2 win against Traktor Chelyabinsk at Traktor Arena in Chelyabinsk on 22 October.

It was the first win for the Bisons on the Chelyabinsk ground in the last four years.

Matt Ellison scored his first of the night late in the opening period after connecting Ryan Vesce's feed from the left side.

Chelyabinsk players gave much work to Dinamo goalie Lars Haugen in the second period. The Norwegian goaltender stood strong and his teammates were able to extend the lead just before the second intermission. Nick Bailen made it 2-0 with his rocket from the blueline.

The guests responded early in the final stanza playing with one man down. Nick Bailen lost the puck in his zone and Traktor forward Konstantin Panov raced off one on one with Lars Haugen to put the Chelyabinsk team on the board. Anton Glinkin was able to tie it up soon enough and Dinamo coach Lubomir Pokovic had to ask for a timeout. Those 30 seconds worked as Matt Ellison was fast to score his second, which held up as the game winner.

The hosts fought hard to take the game into overtime. However, their extra attacker who replaced goalie Michael Garnett with almost one and a half minutes before the final hooter did not bring the result they wanted.

With 32 points after 18 games Minsk keeps 6th spot in the West. Dinamo Minsk will wrap up their road trip with a game against Ugra Khanty-Mansiysk on 24 October.
