Car crash and knife rampage organised by company director

Details of the tragedy in Hai Street in Minsk have appeared.

Investigators reveled that the man involved in the criminal case over a car accident in Hai Street in Minsk had stabbed his wife, little son and daughter at home, BelTA news agency learnt from representative of the Investigation Committee Yulia Hancharova.

The man's wife and children were taken to hospital. “Their condition is described by doctors as serious but stable,” the IC representative noted.

The instrument of crime and other physical evidence were collected from the suspect's home. The investigation is under way. The man is accused of violating part 1 of article 14 and part 2 of article 139 (attempted aggravated murder) and part 3 of article 317 of the Criminal Code (traffic violation causing the death of two persons through negligence). The criminal cases were consolidated and submitted to the main investigation department of the IC central office.

“The investigation team has been working continuously since arriving at the scene,” Yulia Hancharova says.

The suspect is the director of a Minsk-based firm. He has been questioned by investigators. “Medical tests showed he was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. We are waiting for the results of blood chemistry tests,” the IC says.

Investigators continue to examine the scene and question witnesses to find out what happened on November 8 and before.

The accident took place on November 8. The suspect was driving an Audi 8 car. According to investigators, his car crashed into an Audi 100 and damaged several cars that were parked along the road. The driver of Audi 100 and its passenger died at the scene. The man tried to escape from the accident scene but got detained by the police.
