Last respects paid to Valery Fralou in Minsk

In the function hall in Alsheuski Street, 12 in Minsk last respects were paid to politician Valery Fralou.

He will be buried on November 12 in Hrodna at the cemetery in Kasmanautau Street, Radio Svaboda informs.

Among the persons who had come to bid farewell to general Fralou were Syarhei Skrabets, Lyavon Dzyajko, Paval Znavets, Liudmila Hraznova, Myachyslau Hryb, Paval Kazlouski, Alyaksei Yanukevich and others.

The news about Valery Fralou’s death became known on November 10. His son found him dead in his rented flat in Minsk.

Valery Fralou (Valery Frolov) was born August 17, 1947 in Minsk. He studied in the school #5. His mother worked as a stock control clerk at MAZ plant all her life, his father was a front veteran. He worked as an electrician, a foreman, a chief energy man.

He graduated from Kharkiv higher command armour college (1970), he was an engineer of vehicles, tractors and tanks engineer; the Military Academy of armored troops (1977); the Academy of the General Staff of the USSR Armed Forces (1991), the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the president of Belarus (2000). Brigadier General.

He worked as a gear-milling machine set-up operator of Minsk automobile plant (MAZ) (1964-1966).

He served as a commander of an armored platoon, squadron (1970-1974, Belarusian military command), a battalion commander, an executive officer, a commander of an armored regiment, an executive officer of the staff of a motor rifle division (1977-1989, Far East military command), a division commander (1991-1993, Baltic military command), the commander of the staff of the army corps of the Military Forces of Belarus (1993-1994), the commander of the army corps (1994-2000).

On October 17, 1994 he was appointed commander of the 28th army corps.

In 2000-2004 Valery Fralou was a deputy of the “chamber of representatives” representing Hrodna rural constituency #54, a member of the commission on national security. He expressed criticism of Lukashenka’s policies. Together with his colleagues from “Respublika” deputies’ group Uladzimir Parfyanovich (Parfenovich) and Syarhei Skrabets (Skrebets) they went on a hunger strike of protest on June 3, 2004. Several dozens of oppositional parties’ representatives joined them as a sign of solidarity. The demands of the protesters included: to amend the Electoral Code, stop political repressions and change the measure of restraint for the chairman of the International public association “Delovaya initsiativa” (“Business initiative”) Mikhail Marynich (Marinich), who was held in the remand prison of the KGB then.

During the election in 2010 Valery Fralou was an election agent of the presidential candidate in Belarus, Andrei Sannikov.
