Belarusians do not believe authorities and wait for devaluation

The citizens in Mahileu are sure about further Belarusian ruble’s devaluation.

Do you believe that the devaluation will not affect Belarus? Do you take any measures to preserve yourself from its possibility? BelaPAN correspondent asked the citizens of Mahileu:

“We will definitely have the same situation as in Russia now as we have many common interests. Surely, we have to buy currency as it is the best way to save money”.

“It is a temporary phenomenon for Russia caused by Western sanctions. But we are tied up not only with Russian currency but also with dollar and euro. In the foreseeable future we will not have the devaluation. But what is going to be next? Money issue is an unpredictable one”.

“The devaluation will take place. It much depends on our economics. The Russian ruble is not able to support the Belarusian one. I used to buy dollars but now I spend them.”

“The devaluation is going to happen. Wages are getting lower but prices are rising. I earn three million of Belarusian rubles but I used to earn seven millions. I save up money to buy dollars but it also should be few to buy necessities”.

“After 2011 I do not swear by our authorities in principle. Then it was claimed that our economics was stable, our international reserves were still high but nevertheless the ruble had three times fall. Definitely, we have some reserves but they are not so large in number. One way or another, I’m trying to save them but it is all at the mundane level”.

“Yes, the Belarusian ruble continues falling. This is what I’m not doubtful of. I’m not waiting for something good to happen. All money spends on the family. So I’m not able to save much money”.

“I have lost my faith as they always just make promises but the ruble continues falling. We are working for peanuts. How can I save money if I only have enough to live for during a month?”

“I’m not aware of the present situation. What should be done? Nothing is going to change. We live for the day. But we’d like to live in the Belarus we have much heard about”.
