Mahileu police confused

Mahileu police and Prosecutor's Office have commented on complaints on the website voskresinfo.com.

Socio-political activists and journalists began to receive written responses from Mahileu police and Prosecutor's Office after a number of complaints about libel on the website voskresinfo.com.

It was found out that the same website is located in Ukraine and Russia.

According to Viasna Human Rights Centre, the letter, received by the Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada) Ihar Barysau, stated that the site voskresinfo.com was located on the territory of Ukraine, and if the activist wanted to bring those responsible for the insult to justice, he must file a lawsuit in the Court of Ukraine on protection of honor and dignity in the manner prescribed by law.

Anton Kastsou received the letter from police. It said that the website voskresinfo.com was located in Sushchanskij shaft 5, Moscow, the Russian Federation. It was given the telephone number of the owner of the site + 7 (495) 609-28-53. Kastsou may also bring those responsible for the insult; he must file a lawsuit in the Court of the Russian Federation on protection of honor and dignity.

There is the situation when the site is allegedly located in two places. It is impossible. It is clear that the police have just given a run-around reply. Moreover, we have asked to block the access to the website in the territory of Belarus, but the replies have not mentioned it. We know that Mahileu security services are those responsible for the libel, Ihar Barysau says.

It should be noted that the journalist Ales Burakou is also waiting for the response to his appeal as not for the first time he has also been slandered on the site.

Voskresinfo.com is a site, intensifying his efforts before the election campaign. The site employees send articles previews on the e-mails of socio-political activists in Mahileu. The site contains information of a private nature, which can be aquired only through special relations with the Government. Over the past few years at least 20 pro-democracy activists in the city have been calumniated on the Internet.
