Belarusian banks stop accepting hryvnia

Banks suspend accepting Ukrainian currency in cash.

Charter97.org website has been informed about that by a teacher.

“Today I tried to change hryvnias in exchange offices of different banks, but they said that they do not work with this currency now. When I asked, what has happened, and when they are going to take it, they said that until January 1 the National bank forbids to accept Ukrainian currency in cash,” he said.

There is no information about that at the official website of the National Bank of Belarus so far. But it is known that Belarusbank, for instance, does not take the national currency of Ukraine.

“For the time being our bank suspends work with hryvnia,” a representative of Belarusbank said to charter97.org reporter.

To the question when hryvnia is to be taken again, they said they do not have such information.
