BATE Borisov lose to FC Porto in Champions League opener

FC BATE Borisov made their fourth start in the UEFA Champions League group stage on 17 September.

In Group H opener ten-time Belarusian champions fell 0-6 to FC Porto.

It was an unlucky game for Borisov players. On the fifth minute of the game BATE keeper Sergei Chernik made a mistake which led to the first goal for FC Porto. Tacine Brahimi opened the score for his team and doubled it a bit less than half an hour later. He was followed by Jackson Martinez who made it 3-0. After the break Portugal scored three more unanswered goals making it the biggest defeat for BATE Borisov in the Champions League group performance.

Elsewhere, Athletic Spain hosted Shakhtar Donetsk in Bilbao. The match ended in a 0-0 draw.

The next games are scheduled for 30 September. Alexander Yermakovich's men will host Athletic Spain at Borisov-Arena, Shakhtar Donetsk will play FC Porto in Lviv.
