MAZ works 3 days a week

The situation at the plant continues to worsen.

A worker of the Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ) wrote to Nasha Niva newspaper. The situation at the plant is worsening. Most units have been working three days a week since August.

“Only the bus production unit and several narrow specialists continue to work a full week. The rest don't work,” the worker says. “It lasted whole August. We received an order on Thursday that Friday is declared a day off. Later, Thursday was declared a day off, too. We learnt it on Wednesday.”

Workers receive 2/3 of the pay rate for idle time. Bonuses are paid only to workers, while technicians don't receive them.

Journalists contacted the plant and talked to deputy commercial director Siarhei Zakharevich. He says the plant works in accordance with the number of orders and the optimal scheduling. He agrees there are certain problems, but more than half units work five days a week.
