Vice-Minister of Defence of Poland: Russia's aggression and terrorist attacks interrelated

Terrorist attacks in France may affect the situation in Eastern Europe.

Romuald Szeremietiew, the professor and Vice-Minister of Defence of Poland, said it in the interview for wPolityce.pl (translated by charter97.org) on the subject of attacks in Paris and their implications for the security of the region.

- This is an ordinary situation with attacks. But we are in safe unless someone wants to carry one out against us. A possibility to prevent them is really miserable. I don't know of what size security service should be, so that their agents can cover all spheres that potentially may pose a threat. It is very doubtful that the State is able to finance such a huge network of agents. It is known that mass media disseminates information about attacks, so if the authorities talked about any threat, there would be panic in the society. I would not exaggerate the significance of these asseverations Szeremietiew said.

The Polish expert also stressed that in this context, the events in the East should provoke serious concern, especially since Russia had begun to adhere a policy hostile to Ukraine.

-There is no doubt that Poland is a kind of enemy for Russia and stands on its way to extend its territory westward. It should be recalled that terrorist attacks and the Russian aggression may be related", he said.

Szeremietiew believes that terrorist attacks in France may affect the situation in Eastern Europe.

"One may even raise money on whether Russia was involved in these attacks. The USA and the NATO, Western European countries to less extent, are the most serious opponents of the Russian Federation in its intention to seize Ukraine and take further steps to exercize the aggression in Central Europe. . They take some minimum measures but not a firm stand.

Let us imagine that the countries of Western Europe, the United Kingdom, France and Germany are to be victims of a number of attacks. What is to happen next? Perhaps, Western Europe will strengthen the safety and no longer be interested in the East. From this point, Russia's anti-terrorist support would seem very appropriate. It would clear the way for Russia's offensive moves realization.
