“Social parasites’” hunting starts in a month (Video)

The administrative responsibility for unemployment, well forgotten since Soviet times, is to appear in Belarus soon.

During a special meeting the leader of the state ordered officials to give another brush to the document of the decree within a month, Belsat reports.

According to the document, employable citizens who had not paid taxes for 6 months, must pay a fee of 20 basic units once a year. Administrative liability for evasion, untimely or incomplete payment of the fee will take place.

The authorities think there are 400,000 social parasites in the country. But not all people are to pay this fee. It is planned to make a list of certain categories of citizens who would be granted remission of the fee payment. These groups are to include disabled persons, or those who are bringing up children.

The initiative to fine and punish unemployed persons had been proposed by the Interior Affairs Ministry. After the idea was approved by Alyaksandr Lukashenka, the appropriate decree was created by the Labour and Social Defence Ministry.

Members of the government also warn that the fee for social parasitism would not legalize grey salaries or business. In case tax inspection would discover facts that a person had received income, additional sanctions would be used against such a person.
