Anatol Liabedzka, the leader of the United Civil Party (UCP), is ordered to visit Minsk's Tsentralny district police department at 15:00 today.
He receives a summons from the police. The politician is sure the ground is the placard “Je suis Charlie” that he raised near the embassy of France on January 11, Radio Svaboda reports.
The police already charged Zmitser Kuchuk and Pavel Kanavalchyk, two other participants of the picket, with participating in unsanctioned events. The date of the trial is unknown.
“They authorities were clever enough not to catch us during the picket. But they decided to punish us now, when the situation calmed down a little. The ground for the punishment is our photo on Facebook,” Anatol Liabedzka noted.
The picket was held in Minsk on January 11 in solidarity with the journalists killed in Paris on January 7 and the Unity March held in the French capital on January 11.
