Draft decree “On elimination of social parasitism” won't be published until it adopted

The new draft decree aimed at struggling against “social parasitism” is not available for the public.

Euroradio leanrt it from the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection.

Deputy minister Valery Kavalkou said on January 5 that the draft decree had been prepared and introduced to the president's administration.

The press service of the Ministry of Labour says the text of the draft decree is unavailable. It is now in Lukashenka's administration, and a public discussion of the document “is not possible at this stage”. The decree will be published only after it is “approved and adopted”. The preliminary date of the adoption is unknown.

Talking to journalists about the scandalous draft decree, Valery Kavalkou turned attention to the fact that the term “social parasite” is not legitimated in Belarus. “The head of state gave instructions to prepare the draft regulatory act that would oblige unemployed people to participate in financing the state's expenses on the social sphere in accordance with the Constitution. The draft regulatory act was prepared and introduced to the president's administration in due order,” the deputy minister said.
