Lithuanian Foreign Ministry calls on to arm Ukraine

Lithuania calls on other countries to provide Ukrainian army with arms which is fighting against pro-Russian separatists in the Donbass.

"We do not specify arms (…) but it's our contribute to the army based on our means. And we call on other contries to follow us", Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius told on Wednesday noting that his country had already provided assistance to Ukraine, Delfi.lt reports.

The Foreign Minister added that Russia constantly supplied separatists in eastern Ukraine with weapons though publicly denied it. He also mentioned that when the truce was violated, "there should follow consequences". However, he did not specify actions.

Earlier, the Foreign Ministry of Lithuania stated that the world community should not trust a word of the representatives of the Russian government. Linkevičius also stated that Russia did not show any positive "signs" to cooperate on the conflict in Ukraine. The Lithuanian Minister emphasized that Russia continued to provide regular support to militants in eastern Ukraine, and unceremoniously send there "humanitarian" convoys with unknown contents.
