Minsk dwellers are reminded of true state symbols of Belarus.

The press service of the Alternative informed charter97.org.

A poster with the inscription "Belarusians! Here is your true flag" was pasted up in the underpass near Kamarousku market, at the junction of Very Kharuzhai and Kuibyshava Streets. A white-red-white flag and the Pahonia coat of arms were hung out next to it.

"The action was dedicated to anniversary of infamous Referendum of May 14, 1995. It changed Belarusian national symbols", the statement says.

White-red-white flag and Pahonia coat of arms are historical. They were adopted as State symbols by the Supreme Council of the BSSR on September 19, 1991.

As a result, on May 14, 1995 the referendum, violated constitutional norms, replaced national symbols by modified Soviet symbols and they were banned.

The actions with hanging out of white-red-white flags have been repeatedly held by democratic activists to remind of true symbols of independent Belarus.
