Tax authorities interested in Homel human rights activist

Tax authorities interested in Homel human rights activist
Leanid Sudalenka

Tax inspection for Homel district required information about Leanid Sudalenka's salary in the public association Legal Initiative.

It is interested in his income for 10-year period, starting from 2005. Meanwhile, the document is marked with "For Official Use Only", Radio Racyja reports.

The human rights activist is trying to find out who is behind it and who needs the information in a "strictly confidential" mode, but has no doubts about special services' involvement.

- The tax authorities know I work there pro bono. And all the reports during my residence in Homel prove I did not receive money for my work. I think that this is how the special services are trying to put pressure on me, Leanid Sudalenka says.

According to the civil rights activists, he has recently left for the Homel district. Earlier he was required annual asset and income declarations for 15-year period.
