Belarus's signal troops to have military exercises

The main part of the exercises will take place at Obuz-Lesnovsky, Brestsky and Borisovsky training ranges.

Tactic and special exercises of the signal troops of the Armed Forces will be held from July 27 to July 31 under command of the chief signals officer of the Armed Forces – chief of the signal division of the General Staff of the Armed forces in accordance with the 2014/2015 training programme, BelaPAN reports.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Defence, the main aim of the drill is to increase the readiness and capability of the signal troops to provide the organised deployment of communication systems and signal troops, stable operation in the interests of controlling the troops (forces) of the regional group of troops of Belarus and Russia, planned and effective preparation for the joint operational exercises Union Shield 2015.

The drills are the last practical stage of the preparation of forces for the joint Belarusian-Russian exercises, during which a communication system involving new and upgraded communication means and complexes will be deployed and analog means and complexes will be used as reserve.

The military exercises will include:

– a march of signal units and subdivisions to the zone of deploying signal stations and lines;

– performing training standards of the deployment of field communications of mobile command posts of military command and units in the designated deployment zones;

– cooperation of the communication system of the Armed Forces with the public telecommunication network of Belarus as well as with the territorial communication system of the armed forces of Belarus and Russia.

Most drills will take place at Obuz-Lesnovsky, Brestsky and Borisovsky training ranges and permanent military bases.

Officers of the signal division of Russia's Western Military District are expected to arrive to exchange experience in organising military drills and coordination.
