New Israeli ambassador to Belarus to be appointed soon

The press service of the office of the Israeli Prime Minister's Office reports that new ambassadors of Israel to Russia, Belarus and a number of other countries will be appointed in the near future.

The statement was made amid criticism from leaders of Jewish communities in the diaspora and representatives of the MFA.

The term of office of Israel's ambassador to Moscow Dorit Golender and ambassador to Minsk Yosef Shagal expires in the coming days. Israel's diplomatic missions in London, Brasilia, Bratislava and Astana will remain without ambassadors, too.

The term of office of Israeli Ambassador to the UN Ron Prosor will be extended until a replacement is found, NEWSru.co.il reports.

Ambassador Yosef Shagal made several insulting remarks about Belarusian political prisoners. The Belarusian democratic forces urged to recall him from Minsk.
