The case was opened at the end of last year against 63-year-old Mikhail Lukashevich from Brest.

He had painted political graffiti on the fence near his house for several years, Viasna human rights centre reports.

The house of the pensioner was searched during the investigation. Cans with paint and primers were seized. Elements of the political graffiti on the fence were painted over by unknown people. Mikhail Lukashevich was taken to a psychiatric hospital. His mental state was assessed as satisfactory.

The Investigation Committee didn't reveal details was of the case to the public. It was unknown which particular banners were recognised as defamation of the dictator. It was later reported that the case was closed due to the lack of evidence.
