No. 23 Victoria Azarenka advanced to the Wimbledon quarterfinals by beating Belinda Bencic of Switzerland in straight sets 6-2, 6-3.
Azarenka, a two-time Australian Open champion, has yet to drop a set at Wimbledon after wins over Anett Kontaveit, Kirsten Flipkens, Kristina Mladenovic and Belinda Bencic.
In the quarterfinal match Victoria faces her long-time rival Serena Williams of the United States. Victoria trails 3-16 to Williams in the head-to-head, but many of their matches have been very competitive.
This season they met twice. In Madrid, Victoria Azarenka served for the match but ultimately lost it 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-7(1). At the French Open, she fought hard before losing 3-6, 6-4, 6-2.
The pair have met on grass three times before, and Williams has won all three: 6-2, 6-3 in the Wimbledon quarterfinals in 2009, 6-3, 7-6(6) in the Wimbledon semifinals in 2012 and 6-1, 6-2 at the Olympics, also held at Wimbledon, the same summer.
