Picket in memory of Viktar Hanchar and Anatol Krasouski will be held today.

They were kidnapped 16 years ago. Perpetrators of the crime are still not punished.

On the evening of September 16, 1999 the politician Viktar Hanchar, who was in command of Aliaksandr Lukashenka and his friend businessman Anatol Krasouski came to bath, located Fabrichnaya Street, 20, Minsk. Last time they were seen at 10:35 pm. They were getting into Jeep Cherokee, BelaPAN reports.

The criminal case was inintiated by the Minsk Prosecutor's Office. According to investigators, the search of adjacent territory revealed shards of plastic lenses of signalling lamps, braking tracks and impact marks, as well as blood traces. The DNA fingerprinting showed the blood stains of Hanchar. The degree of credibility is 99.6%. According to collect data, including testimony of witnesses, there are grounds for kidnapping of Hanchar and Krasouski by the unknown.

Opposition representatives, relatives and the international public believe that Hanchar and Krasouski were kidnapped by political reasons, and suspect the highest officials of the country of the crime.

Harry Pahaniaila, lawyer of ROO "Belarusian Helsinki Committee (BHC), believes that the government is not interested in the case. "It is not a secret that they were killed, he says. - Flouting of the case demonstrates the government's involvement in their disappearance".

According to the lawyer, the real investigation is possible only in case of other government.

This evening activists of the United Civic Party (UCP) plan to hold a picket in memory of "16 years without Hanchar and Krasouski" near the main state store. "The application was not submitted. The picket will be hold in accordance with Article 35 of the Conctitution and Article 45 of the Electoral Code of the Republic of Belarus", the press service of the UCP informs.
