Industrial output in Minsk dropped 35% for three years

Industrial output in Minsk is 75.5 trillion rubles (in current prices), having fallen by 15.9% for a period from January to August compared to the same period last year.

The Main Statistical Department of Minsk reports that the decline was 4% in the food industry 37.8% in the textile and sewing industry, 25.8% in the leather and footwear industry BelaPAN writes.

The production level fell by 17.2% in the wood processing industry, by 0.5% in the metal industry, by 8.2% in the energy, gas and water management.

The output of rubber and plastic products declined by 12.5%, machines and equipment – by 35.7%, vehicles and equipment – by 43.7%, electrical, electronic and optical equipment – by 4.7%, other non-metal mineral products – by 10.5%.

The production of vodka decreased by 27.1% (2.5 million decalitres), trucks – by 60.2% (2,178), tractors – by 43% (17,600), buses – by 54.1% (443), motorcycles – by 81.2% (310), fridges and freezers – by 12.5% (581,100), footwear – by 30.9% (779,000).

The output of the pharmaceutical industry increased by 47.8%. The output of whole milk products rose by 4.3% (199,600 tonnes), cheese – by 22.4% (1,364 tonnes), ceramic tiles – by 0.9% (10,344 square metres) and washing machines – by 38.4% (133,000).

It's worth noting that Minsk's industrial output has been falling for the third year in a row. It declined by 10% in 2014 compared to 2013 and by 15.6% in 2013 compared to 2012. So, the industrial production in Minsk has dropped by more than one-third for three years.
