Investigative Committee refused to close Mikhalevich’s case opened for Square
ALES MIKHALEVICH

Minsk directorate of the Investigative Committee denied the motion of Ales Mikhalevich to close the criminal case against him.

The politician filed a petition at the same time as he returned to Belarus, Radio Racyja informs.

Ales Mikhalevich remains the last person whose criminal case for being a suspect in involvement in the “mass riots” allegedly held on the day of the presidential election in 2010, has not been closed.

The politician was detained after the rally of protest, however in spring 2011 he was released from prison under a written undertaking not to leave the place. Later he told that in the KGB prison under tortures he was forced to agree to collaborate with the secret service. After some time after the disclosure Ales Mikhalevich fled Belarus. He returned in September 2015, after Belarusian political prisoners were released.
