The Reality Of Lukashenka’s Economy: Working For Food

Practically all the real wages of the Belarusian citizens go for buying food products.

Belarusians spend Bn 309 in average for food shopping in stores and markets.

In January-November Belarusians left in shops, shopping centers and markets Bn 32,7 billion, according to the National Statistics Committee. This is 3,9% less than in the same period last year.

The per capita retail turnover for the 11 months amounted to Bn 3,4 thousand (it's $ 100 more than a year ago). It turns out that an average Belarusian left Bn 309 on a monthly basis in shops, shopping centers and markets in January-November.

The Belarusians’ spending on purchases vary by region. Minskers appear to leave more money than all the others in shops, shopping centers and markets – Bn 464 a month, least of all - the inhabitants of Homel and Mahileu regions (Bn 246).

We remind, according to the latest data, the wage of Bn 200-300 is most often offered under vacancies in most of the regions and in Minsk.

It turns out that the majority of Belarusians in the realities of the “Lukashenka’s economic model" are forced to work for food.
