“Mothers' Movement 328” Creates International Organization

The Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus denied registration to the social and educational public association “Mother's Movement 328.”

Activists appealed in court the decision of the Hrodna District Executive Committee justice department – a structure that considers the registration of the organization inappropriate.

Supreme Court deprived the organization of the possibility to perform legally but it does not mean that the organization would stop functioning, initiator of the creation of the public association “Mother's Movement 328” Larysa Zhyharo says:

“We're intended to create an international organization. And I think that if we are registered abroad, “Mother's Movement 328” will be acknowledged internationally. And I believe that many foreign associations will support us,” – she said to Radio Racyja.

The socio - educational public association “Mother's Movement 328” was created in connection with the situation concerning the convicted under article 328 of the Criminal Code (trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances).

Trumped-up cases and torturing young people detained for taking and distributing drugs have become the main reason for mothers across the country to join together to protect their children.
