Homel KGB Officers Have No One To Discuss International Situation With

They call human rights defenders and invite them to meet in the city for a “friendly conversation.”

Representatives of the Homel Region State Security Committee do not leave Homel human rights defenders unattended.

Today at 12:20 a stranger called Homel human rights defender Viktoryja Fiodarava from the number +375 29 308 91 33. He introduced himself as Dzmitry from the Homel region KGB department. He politely invited the human rights activist to meet for a talk, the HRC Viasna reports.

In respond to Viktoryja’s question about the reasons and legal grounds for this invitation the stranger laughed it off and said that he just wanted to talk about the international situation. At the same time, the stranger drew attention to the fact that the conversation was informal, and he did not invite her to the KGB building.

The human rights activists demanded that in the future she should be called by a summons in compliance with all legal requirements.

“I'm surprised with such interest to myself. I’d like to notice that I consider this kind of informal invitations to be psychological pressure. To protect myself from such kind of “acquaintances,” I inform you that I go to any talks with the representatives of the special services and law enforcement agencies either on my own initiative or when I’m called by a summons, drawn up in accordance with the law,” – Viktoryja Fiodarava said.

What can be the reason of such an interest on the part of the KGB to the human rights defender remains a mystery.
