The Things CIA Classified Documents On Belarus Concealed

The American intelligence reckoned our country a state of great importance.

The United States’ Central Intelligence Agency allowed access to over 12 million pages of the previously classified documents yesterday.

The portal tut.by searched the archives and found the data relating to placement of the nuclear kill weapon at the territory of Belarus, as well as the secret nuclear ammunition storages and the management headquarters.

The army units were managed with the help of CTVs. The Americans thoroughly monitored their relocation and tried to find out as much as possible about the equipment inside of them.

Belarus was given a high profile in the military mechanism of the USSR, numerous fighter and bomber regiments were located here, as well as the nuclear weapons.

The American satellite spies closely watched all this. The report, for instance, reveals that the secret ammunition storage with nuclear weapons was located near the village of Vyskov, Gomel region.

The location of nuclear missiles near Smarhon, where the 428th guards Krasnoznamennyi Zvenigorod missile regiment (the military unit 44 197), or, more precisely, the third division, armed with the silo launchers with missiles P-14U (classified by NATO and the US Ministry of Defense as SS-5 Skean), stayed, was not a secret for the Americans.

The silo launcher was called “Chusovaya”. The photo of this object remains in the declassified archive.

Polatsk and the area enjoyed special attention of the American intelligence. Dozens of pages in the archive are dedicated to the secret reports and pictures, taken in this area. The Americans not only watched the movement at the position of missile complexes, but detected the place of dislocation of the communication center and the staff bunker.

The missile complexes “Pioneer” were dislocated in Polatsk. The military countries of the NATO were seriously concerned about the appearance of the new missiles, and the new Soviet missile was soon widely recognized as SS-20. The complex was mounted on the chassis of the MAZ-247, its flight range was about 5000 km, and a circular probable error was 450 m.

It’s hard to tell whether the Americans guessed that the element of the “Perimeter” system – the “Gorn” complex – was situated near Polatsk. Many pages of the reviews, dedicated to the monitoring of the missile systems, have been withdrawn and some parts of the texts are crossed out in black ink.

“Gorn” was a command missile on the basis of the medium-range ballistic missile “Pioneer”. We know about at least one formation of the missile troops of strategic purpose, armed with the “Gorn” complex – the 249th missile regiment, dislocated in the city of Polatsk.

It is curious that the starting positions of the Soviet nuclear missiles were also located not far from the town of Disna. The documents describe in details not only the size of the launching pad, but the ways of possible reaching the position.

The American intelligence also closely watched Pastavy. The CIA analysts studied the received photos, compared them with the images of the missile positions near Polatsk. Moreover, the intelligence revealed fake launching sites and detected the models of the missile complexes, aimed at confusing the foreign intelligence.

The archive contains the documents related to all the missile units, located in Belarus. The objects in Ruzhany, Lida, Mazyr and other towns were under the constant control. Hundreds of pages in the declassified documents are dedicated thereof.
