The police found paintings by Picasso and Shahal stolen from an Israeli collector many years ago in the basement of a house in the Belgian city of Antwerp. Their value is estimated at 900 thousand dollars, reports Reuters.

We are talking about the paintings Tête ("Head") by Pablo Picasso and Mark Shahal's L'homme en prière ("Praying man"). Both paintings were stolen from a private collection in Tel Aviv in 2010, their total value is estimated at 900 thousand dollars.

Jewellery worth $680,000 was also stolen along with the paintings, but they have not yet been found.

The canvases were hidden in the basement of the Antwerp house, they were discovered by the police. It is reported that both finds are in good condition.

Earlier, a source informed the Belgian law enforcement authorities that the stolen works by Shahal and Picasso were put up for sale. The local prosecutor informed that the main suspect has been arrested.
