Zelensky Holds First National Security And Defense Council Session After Dismissal Of Danilov

He named five new areas of work.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) and named new directions for the department’s work.

The head of the Ukrainian state wrote about this on Telegram.

He noted greater predictability as the first point among the areas of work of the updated NSDC.

“We need to strengthen Ukraine’s ability to predict and influence the processes on which the national security of our state depends,” the message says.

Secondly, according to Zelensky, the National Security and Defense Council will continue to carry out all current tasks, and will be especially attentive to the state’s sanctions policy.

Third is doctrinal work. Zelensky emphasized that clarity of national guidelines and consistency in their implementation is “what is needed both now and after the war.”

The President of Ukraine named cybersecurity and information as the fourth area. According to him, the National Security and Defense Council has the potential to do more to protect against enemy destabilizing operations and coordinate all state institutions in this area.

Zelensky named the fifth point the work of the Headquarters, draft decisions and monitoring their implementation.

According to the president, the obvious priority in this direction is the defense of Ukraine and the protection of society.

In addition, the head of the Ukrainian state noted that Danilov will henceforth work in the diplomatic direction.

Change of leadership of the National Security and Defense Council

On March 26, Zelensky fired Oleksiy Danilov from the post of Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council and appointed the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service Oleksandr Lytvynenko in his place.

Danilov was the thirteenth Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and held this position since October 3, 2019.

Subsequently, Zelensky announced that Danilov was being transferred to another direction.
