BILD: Russia Knows In Advance About Iran's Strike On Israel

Moscow had the opportunity to pressure Iran if the attack contradicted Russian interests.

Following Iran's first-ever strike on Israel, the Russian Foreign Ministry "expressed extreme concern" and "called on all parties involved to restrain themselves."

"Remind me when Israel condemned at least one strike by the Kyiv regime on Russian regions? You don't remember? Neither do I. But I do remember regular statements in support of Zelensky's actions by Israeli officials," Maria Zakharova wrote.

According to the a target="_blank" href=https://t.me/BILD_Russian/15827>BILD columnist, this is evidence that Moscow is interested in instability in the Middle East, as it diverts attention from the war in Ukraine. Russia "sided with the ultra-Islamist ayatollahs" and demonstrated cynicism, the journalist writes.

"Perhaps the Kremlin has an interest in keeping the conflict in the Middle East unpredictable. This ties up American forces and money, which in turn is not enough to defend Ukraine," Carlo Masala, a professor at the Bundeswehr University in Munich, told BILD.

He is confident that Russia must have been informed of Iran's plans.

"Moscow had the opportunity to pressure Iran if this attack was against Russian interests. Russia did not do that," the expert added.
