Last night, a customs hangar at the Medininkai checkpoint on the Lithuanian-Belarusian border burned down.

During the car check in the customs shed, it suddenly caught fire, writes 15min.lt.

According to the police, at about 02:40 a.m., the Porsche Cayenne was on tests at the Medininkai border checkpoint (Kamenny Loh on the Belarusian side), in the hangar of the Vilnius territorial customs.

During the inspection, a fire suddenly broke out. The car caught fire, as well as the car inspection shed and the administrative part of the building. As a result of the incident, no one was injured. Losses are counted. Officials investigate the destruction or damage to property through negligence and find out the cause of the fire.

Eight tank vehicles, two ladders and a service car were involved in extinguishing the fire.

"During the inspection of the car, a fire broke out in the shed of the Vilnius Territorial Customs, the car burned down, the inspection hangar and part of the administrative building burned down," said customs spokesman Vytautas Ražanaskas.

According to the Lithuanian Fire and Rescue Department, the fire was extinguished around 7:00 am.

The Lithuanian side does not allow transport temporarily.
