Ukrainian Colonel: It’s Real To Liberate Crimea In One Year

Ukraine destroys the Russian air defence in Crimea step by step. Yesterday, the Ukrainian forces covered three air defence bases with missiles at once. Before that, the Russian S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile system was destroyed in Dzhankoi.

What are the Armed Forces of Ukraine preparing for? The Charter97.org website spoke about this with Petro Chernik, a Ukrainian military analyst and reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine:

– Crimea is a large military base. If we managed to recapture the peninsula, it would be a fantastic success for us and a very serious blow to Putin. After all, Crimea is sacred for him.

By the way, it is much easier to recapture Crimea than Donbas. Donbas is a hill and a large agglomeration. The occupiers were capturing a small Avdiivka for 10 years, and the Donbas is tens of times larger. And we cannot afford to act like the Russians, who do not spare their soldiers. You need to involve 200,000 troops to take it.

Crimea is a completely different philosophy. To take it the Crimean Bridge must go under water. This requires large volleys of ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as a serious wave of drones.

I emphasize that the Russian air defence in Crimea is the densest on the planet Earth. Our task is to methodically and scrupulously destroy anti-aircraft missile systems and aviation.

Sooner or later the point will come when we will destroy the bridge. 90% of all logistics go through the Crimean Bridge, and especially through the railway point. As a result, Crimea will simply be strangled. True, this is a long-term operation. We are not talking about 1-3 months but about a year. I have not the slightest doubt that the Crimean Bridge will go under water.

Moreover, with a lowered anti-aircraft missile cover, we can raise the frequency of drone strikes on the peninsula. You can even think about point landings. We have received at least 90 good British boats for rapid landing, and we already have such experience. Such actions around Crimea are called a "strategic strangulation operation". There is every reason to make it a success.

I will add that according to the results of 2023, the Russian Federation lost the second place in the world as a manufacturer and seller of weapons. This was the first time since the 1960s. If earlier Russia sold weapons to more than 30 countries, last year it reached 15. And it's a fantastic move for us. France is in first place now.

– Will the F-16 fighter jets that will soon arrive in Ukraine help the Ukrainian army in Crimea help?

– They will help a lot. They will be able to cover the sky over the Crimea, then they will not be able to fly even IL-76, which can take up to 40 tons on board.

What is valuable is that the F-16 has a fantastic AGM-158 JASSM missile that can strike at a distance of up to 900 kilometers. This high-precision cruise missile can shoot down everything! For example, these missiles can destroy all sea vessels that can deliver something to Crimea.

I repeat, Crimea is a real task. Unfortunately, it is much more difficult to take Donbas. With high-quality planning of combat operations, a sufficient number of good weapons, within the borders of up to a year (not faster), Crimea can be liberated.
