New York Mayor proclaimed 25 March Day of Belarusian Independence

New York Mayor Michel Bloomberg addressed the Belarusian Diaspora ahead of the 90th anniversary of the Belarusian National Republic and proclaimed 25 March 2008 Day of Belarusian Independence in his city.

All New York dwellers are looking forward for a day when the Belarusians will have democracy, will live in peace and prosperity, Michel Bloomberg’s address, sent to the Belarusian-American Association says.

New York has been a center of Belarusian culture in the United States and a place where Belarusians were realising their dreams through hard work, dedication and unified spirit, NYC Mayor emphasised.

We respect these brave people, whose devotion to freedom inspires all of us... The Belarusian-American Association celebrates the 90th anniversary of Belarus’ independence from Russian Empire. The freedom was tragically short, but a strong desire of this organisation for free expression moves its unified spirit till now, Michel Bloomberg thinks.

NYC Mayor says in his address he highly appreciates the public activities of the Belarusian-American Association. He said the activity is fruitful and essential for the Belarusians and the whole society.

At the end of address Michel Bloomberg proclaimed Tuesday 25 March 2008 Day of Belarusian Independence in New York City to recognition of the important BNR anniversary.
