This is just the beginning.. a very soft approach to the trying to tame the forest pig, Batka. It's not necessary to mention the 12 conditions proposed by the EU at this stage as it's too early to get Lukashenko's blood pressure and temper to rise. Solana is no fool, he's a very wise man and a very experienced EU bureaucrat and knows well how to negotiate with national leaders. Nothing that the good people of Belarus stand for goes unnoticed by Solana. He's knows very well the plight of the Belarussian people.

The goal is to create an exit strategy for Batka....

All EU citizen MUST wonder, why Mr. Solana is talking to a person, whose election was not recognized by the European Union in 2006. Obviously, the one and only aim of Mr. Solanas trip to Minsk was to make all the conclusions of the EU Councils, the European Parliament and the European Commission forgotten.

Since this visit, the silent recognition of A. Lukashenko by the EU Commission is no secret anymore. For more than one year, the whole process, initiated by José Manuel Barroso, Benita Ferrero-Waldner and Xavier Solana, is completely intransparent for European citizens.

Why should European citizens defend European values, when their highest representatives ignore them? Mr. Solana and Mr. Barroso - both grew up in authoritarian regimes - did they forget about their so-called presidents? And now they start to shake hands with the same kind of people ... ain't it a shame?
