Raids on European Belarus activists’ homes

Activists are being arrested, their flats searched and equipment seized.

Activists of European Belarus civil campaign Andrei Mauchan, Danila Hancharou, and Andrei Bazhyn, were detained this morning in MInsk.

Andrei Bazhyn and Andrei Mauchan are in the Maskouski district police department of Minsk. The activists managed to phone the European Belarus press service to say their flats had been searched and computers seized. They also said they would be questioned in connection with the case of the so called arson of the House of Justice. We remind that a Molotov cocktail was thrown near the building. The damage was miserable – only traces of soot on the door.

The activists were detained at their homes at 7 in the morning. Policemen are conduct “mopping up” operation trying to burst into houses of other European Belarus activists, the press service notes.

Over ten democratic activists, among them Uladz Berazouski, Mikita Velikaborats, Heorhy Rusak, Arseny Hurski, Aleh Selivanau, Yauheny Asinski, Aleh Yarasenya, Ihar and Alyaksadnr Kudlaeus, were searched and questioned in connection with this case.

Arseny Hursky, Aleh Selivanau, and Yuheny Asinke were arrested for three days.
