Train tickets prices increase by 20% in Belarus today.
People stood in long queues to buy tickets before the price growth. For example, hundreds of people were noticed at the central railway station in Homel on July 11.
Though standing in a queue in a stuffy building took about an hour, people prefer to buy tickets in advance explaining they wanted to go on holiday by train and yesterday was the last day before the fare rise. The queues became even longer at 11 pm with many people standing in the street. They still hoped to buy tickets before midnight, Komsomolskaya Pravda v Belarusi writes.
The queues returned to normal sizes on June 12, but it will be a problem to buy train tickets in the nearest days – most of them were sold out.
