Investigation of Hajdukou’s case prolonged for another month

The investigation of the case of the Navapolatsk activist has been prolonged until 8 April.

“Now it is until 8 April. The investigators prolong the investigation for a month each time. And no one knows any other details of this case”, - the mother of the Navapolatsk activist, accused of the “state treason by the means of agent’s activities”, Volha Haidukova told, the human rights center Viasna reports.

Volha Haidukova told that on 11 March she received the latest latter from her son:

“Everything is about everyday conditions in it: what to send over and that the health is good. But I am glad that at least these couple of lines reach me. It is not even possible to understand what Andrei is being accused of: all the interrogated and the lawyer had to sign for non-disclosure of the secrecy of the investigation. But in this case everything is a secret!”.

The relative do not believe that Andrej Hajdukou, a 23-year old operator at Navapolatsk’s Naftan plant, could spy to the benefit of another country. At least for the reason that he could not know any state secrets.

They can only link the prosecution by KGB to the guy’s oppositional views, who repeatedly received warnings from people in mufti before. They advised him “not to do politics”.

Andrej Hajdukou was detained on 8 November last year in Vitsebsk allegedly “while putting information in a hiding place, which made be of interest for foreign special services”. After the detention the guy was places into the KGB pre-trial jail in Minsk, then transferred to a pre-trial jail in Vitebsk for a month and then brought back to Minsk again. He has been in custody for the fifth consecutive month already.

Another Navapolatsk activist Illa Bahdanau has the status of a suspect in this “spy” case. Hower he remains free.
