Entrepreneurs’ protest in Baranavichy: We don’t need such a union

Around 200 individual entrepreneurs held a spontaneous meeting near the building of the town’s tax inspection.

They decided to start a termless strike from 2 July onwards, Radio Svaboda Reports.

As an entrepreneur Mikalaj Charnavus told, the protests’ reason is the necessity of an additional certification of goods according to the new technical regulations of the Customs Union.

“We have decided that we will not pay taxes and will strike. We spoke, discussed and voted for that. Everyone told to strike, no one said they would work”, - he said.

Mikalaj Charnavus stood there with a banner saying “We don’t need such a Customs Union”.

Two cars of policemen came approached the entrepreneurs but the event ended with no detentions.

We would remind that on 27 June Belarusian entrepreneurs held a national strike. Many marketplaces in Minsk, regional centers and dozens of other town of the country did not work. The decision on the strike was taken by the Entrepreneurs’ Forum, gathered in Minsk on 24 June on the topic of the introduction of the Customs Union’s technical regulations on the “Safety of light industry”.
