Granit plant authorities hide information about accidents

The workers who suffered from work accidents have to sign the document saying they received injuries at home.

Charter97.org has learnt it from an employee of Granit plant.

“A worker fell down in the excavation pit and injured internal organs three weeks ago. He is still at hospital. He was taken from the plant in an ambulance, but was made to get into a civilian car later. He wrote he received injuries at home,” the worker says.

According to him, worker Henadzy Batura was dragged under the conveyor belt on the fifth line five days ago.

“A sensor didn't work, so he was dragged under the belt. If the foreman hadn't cut the belts, the worker would have lost his leg or killed. It ended only with a leg fracture. He was taken from the plant in an ambulance and then ordered to get into a non-medical car. The worker was persuaded to say he had broken his leg at home, though he put a signature that he had taken over the shift. They simply scare workers,” the employee of Granit plant stresses.

He added that worker Yankouski had been hit by a BelAZ truck two days ago.

“He injuries his ribs. And again he was ordered to say it was a home injury. There's a total mess on the plant. We have the central warehouse at Granit. There was a new crushing machine, but it was sold for scrap. They are now going to cut the 10-tonne crane. Managers must be jailed for such things,” the man thinks.

It's not the only case when authorities of Belarusian plants try to hide facts of work accidents. Charter97.org reported how Mogilevtransmash director tried to bribe an inspector to hide information about an accident on the plant.
