Hrodna KGB exposes plot of nursery school directors

Teachers and physicians worked as suitcase traders during working hours.

The newspaper Hrodzenskaya Prauda reports about a successful operation of the local KGB department.

Residents of Hrodna, the town in western Belarus, crossed the border during working hours when they were supposed to be working.

The KGB department of the Hrodna region found inconsistence between the dates of foreign trips and work timesheets. The main internal control department of the regional executive committee checked if employees had grounds to receive wages. “As we supposed, travellers received money for the time they didn't actually work. It means the state suffered material damage,” the official newspaper writes.

Among those who violated labour discipline are physicians, teachers of secondary and nursery schools and their relatives.

“Three nursery school directors and three deputy directors in Hrodna crossed the border more than 200 times for the last 6 years. They were supposed to be at work and perform their duties in all 200 times. Their leaves didn't affect the salaries they received,” the newspaper writes with a reference to the main internal control department of the executive committee.

The offenders were not punished. They bosses chose not to impose disciplinary sanctions on them. They offenders agreed with the claims and voluntary returned the money they had received as salaries and other payments to the budget. Two nursery school directors quit voluntary.
