Lviv fans in Brest were threatened to be thrown with their faces to the ground

Fans from Lviv hitchhiked and used local trains to get to Barysau via Minsk.

Charter97.org learnt new details about the trip of Ukrainian fans to Belarus. We publish the first part of their story.

Authors of the video, the OnTour team managed to cross the border and avoid checks and questionings – they assured customs officers and the police that they were journalists. The video begins on a train from Lviv, shows the Belarusian riot police and ends with a comment.

“We've entered Belarus. They didn't want to make stamps in our passports and wanted us to return home. We were asked if we had money and so on. Other guys were taken to the first carriage for a check. There were about 50 people, but we managed to avoid the check. Travel company 'Riot Police' takes us to Brest. We don't know if we'll get to Barysau on our own or not,” a Ukrainian fan says.

The train arrived in Brest at 7:06.

“In response to our chant 'Glory to Ukraine, glory to heroes' we heard: 'Shut up! Another chant and you'll be lying with your faces to the ground! Is it clear? We don't have such a democracy as you have,” the fans heard. The Ukrainians don't specify who said the threat.

The footage shows tired fans sitting in the waiting room and policemen checking their documents. The fas then arrive in Minsk and share their impressions.

“We've seen many interesting things today. Travel company 'Riot Police' organised a tour from Khatsislau to Brest. We assured them that we were journalists and broke out of the encirclement. We got to Minsk by hitchhiking. We heard that fans are met in Minsk at the central station and invited to get to Barysau by bus. It doesn't fit us, because we have a fan match in Minsk. Our friends are trying to get here by hitchhiking,” the Ukrainian fan says.
