Jacek Saryusz-Wolski: Russia on way to war with Ukraine

Neither Moscow nor separatists observe the truce in Donbas.

Member of the European Parliament Jacek Saryusz-Wolski (Group of the European People's Party, Poland) thinks the events in eastern Ukraine cannot be called a “peaceful process”, Interfax Ukraine reports.

“It can hardly be called a peaceful process, because neither the Russians nor separatists observe it. As the new EU High Representative said, the so called local 'presidential' and 'parliamentary' elections are new obstacles to peace. They violate the Minsk agreements,” the MEP said on Thursday.

He underlined that conditions of the peaceful process are clear and mean observing the provisions of the Minsk Protocol. Local elections in Donbas should be held in compliance with Ukrainian legislation.

“Russia is on its way to war with Ukraine, even if it is not called so. Until now, Russia has done nothing to demonstrate its intentions to deescalate the conflict,” Jacek Saryusz-Wolski said.
