Geoffrey Pyatt: US will lift sanctions when Russia gives Crimea back

Ukraine can win the war if it eliminates corruption and improves its economy.

Sanctions against Russia cannot be lifted now, the Ambassador of the US to Ukraine, Geoffrey Pyatt, said in an interview with Den newspaper.

In his opinion, the US won't cancel the sanctions unless Russia returns occupied Crimea. Pyatt thinks Moscow needs pressure to make it agree on “Poroshenko's peaceful plan” and America puts this pressure.

Ukraine can change many things, but it cannot change geography, the diplomat stressed. He is confident that the conflict can be solved only in a diplomatic way, so the Ukrainian government should start economic reforms and eliminate corruption.
