Mahileu dwellers: It's time for a new President

Mahileu dwellers offer the ways out of economic crisis.

In neighboring Lithuania, Poland and Latvia national currencies are stable for the last twenty years, and there is the devaluation in Belarus every three or four years.

What is the reason for it? What should be done to prevent this from happening? Mahileu dwellers answered the questions of "Radio Svaboda".

"Our authorities do not know how to run the economy efficiently. They perform it in a wrong way. There are no people who are able to run it. Our President is constantly reshuffling the staff. Maybe it's right. But may be the President also should be replaced.

"This is the result of Russia's step back and imposed sanctions. And if we had our markets in Europe, the situation would probably be better. One needs to work better. We should produce high quality products that meet international standards, and enter into other markets but not only to do business with Russia. You can observe the current situation".

"Everything is clear as we have close links with Russia and Ukraine. All these things cannot but affect us. This is the business of politicians. I am miles from it".

"Last year the Government promised that the dollar exchange rate would be fixed at 11 300 but they were leading people up the garden path. It touches both politics and economy. Everything is bad. People are dissatisfied. I don't know how to act. The elections are to happen".

"But we are specifically bound to Russia's economy as well as with Ukraine. Many things depend on external factors. Each Belarusian enterprise must be run by a high-qualified specialist who cares about modernization and enterprise promotion and an effective management team, those who can sell products. Belarusian products find markets, but there are some problems with production distribution.

"I'm not economist but healthcare worker. And I can you tell nothing about it".

"We have close economic ties with Russia. Don't you feel like a resident of Russia? No?! Then we have nothing to talk about".

"Frankly speaking I don't know. There is a problem. But I can't say that it is a fault of our own. I do not know".
