Demand for dollars was over $52 million, while supply was only $12 million.
The new exchange rate – Br13,750 a dollar – was manually set on the Belarusian Currency and Stock Exchange. The exchange rate rose 7.5%, or 960 rubles a dollar.
This exchange rate will be proposed by exchange offices tomorrow, and the duty on purchasing foreign currency will be lifted completely.
However, the new rate doesn't look like a market-based one. Demand for dollars significantly exceeded $52 million, while supply was only $12 million today.
