Zinaida Bandarenka: Russian TV incites ethnic hatred in Belarus

Propagandists of the Kremlin are pitching people against each other and violating the laws of Belarus.

Such a statement has been made by Zinaida Bandarenka, the People’s Artist of Belarus. She has made a proposal to the authorities to ban “the most aggressive and deceitful Russian TV channels and programs”, which are “inciting ethnic hatred”. She was supported by the director of “Krok”, the TV program which was popular in the 1990ies, Uladzimir Mikharski, and the first democratically elected mayor of Slauharad, Feliks Shkirmankou, Radio Racyja informs.

“Russian news programmes, current affairs programmes, are so aggressive that they hound people at each other, they incite ethnical discord. So my proposal is to “purge” all Russian TV channels, as it has been done by Ukraine, as the Baltic States had been forced to do once. And moreover, our Belarusian TV channels are a hotchpotch with Russian stuffing. But the distance from the international informational space makes our mass viewer “absorb” the informational Russianness, which is re-broadcast by Belarus. by the way, the state TV programmes cannot boast of tolerance as well, but not nearly as bad as in Russia,” Zinaida Bandarenka said.

We remind that recently the chairman of the Belarusian TV and Radio Company Henadz Davydzka stated that in no case he is going to ban Russian TV channels in Belarus, and condemned such a decision adopted by the authorities of Ukraine.
