Since March 1 tourist vouchers and insurances banned to settle in currency

The Board of the National Bank has decided since March 1 to stop issuing permits to use currency to provide settlements with individuals.

The reason for this has been the decline in the use of foreign currency in Belarus while settling accounts and the public confidence increase against the national currency, onliner.by writes.

In accordance with the decision taken it is banned to use currency to:

- implement the retail trade and/or provide services on M, M/E national highways and at crossing points on the State border of the Republic of Belarus;

- implement an insurance activity;

- implement a tourist activity;

- sell gasoline of all types, diesel fuel and liquefied gas.

The decision does not apply to duty-free shops and for the payment of insurance premiums in cases stipulated by the Regulations on insurance activities in the Republic of Belarus (in particular, the "Green Card").

The press release reports that the National Bank will further continue to decline cases allowed to settle accounts in foreign currency in the Republic of Belarus.

- We still can accept payments both in rubles and in foreign currency. But soon we will have to stop it. It's not a very good decision that creates additional technical problems, but everything can be solved, one of insurance company in Belarus reports.
