Andzelika Borys gets warning from State Control Committee

Andzelika Borys, the leader of the Union of Poles of Belarus, received a warning. She was said that the case against her was closed.

She was to meet with the investigator on March 9, but the meeting was postponed for unknown reasons. According to Borys, the authorities tried to accuse representatives of the Union of Poles of the carrying out activities on behalf of an unregistered organisation, Radio Racyja informs.

“The criminal case won't be opened, because there are no grounds for it. I was issued a warning for carrying out activities on behalf of the unregistered organisation Union of Poles. I must appear for preventive conversations once a month. I think they can open a case at any moment if you are involved in public activities. As the case is politically motivated, it can be closed today but turn into a criminal case tomorrow,” Borys said.

All summonses to visit the State Control Committee will be arranged through Andzelika Borys's lawyer. The date for the first preventive conversation hasn't been set yet. Today's decision came as a pleasant surprise for Andzelika Borys on her 10th anniversary as the head of the independent Union of Poles.

Andzelika Borys was also summoned to the financial investigation department of the State Control Committee's directorate for the Hrodna region on February 27. Chief inspector Khanko suggested during a two-hour conversation that Borys and her colleagues were involved in an unregistered organisation, which is the Union of Poles, as the inspector thinks.
