Zyanon Paznyak: Moscow wants to privatize victory in World War II

Russia is preparing another provocation, not only in eastern Ukraine, but also in Moscow.

This statement has been made in a video address by the leader of the Conservative Christian Party Belarusian Popular Front Zyanon Paznyak.

The politician calls the parade in the Russian capital on May 9 dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the victory over German invaders “a provocation”. “This fact as such is raising a number of questions and doubts, as almost the entire Europe was fighting against Hitler. Privatization of the victory, inviting guests to Moscow only – all that looks rather provocative, especially now, when Russia acts as an aggressor nation,” Zyanon Paznyak said.

As said by him, Belarusians are indignant at such actions, as “millions of lives had been sacrificed to the altar of the war, which had been conducted not only by Germany, but by Moscow as well.”

“The Belarusian nation had been suffering more from partisans than from Germans. Only 10% of the enemies killed by partisans were Germans, others were Belarusians,” the politician underlined.

Earlier Moscow sent invitations to a number of world leaders to attend the solemn parade dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the victory. Presidents of Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia have already declined the invitation.

Barack Obama, US President, will not come to Russia on May 9 as well. As the Office of the British Prime Minister David Cameron informed, he refused to visit Moscow either.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel refused to come to Moscow to the military parade on May 9 as well. However she is set to fly to the capital of Russia on May 10 and together with Putin to lay flowers at the monuments of the Unknown Soldier near the Kremlin wall.
