On the contrary, declining oil prices should be advantageous for Belarus.

This statement has been made by the former chairman of the National Bank of Belarus Stanislau Bahdankevich, Belgazeta writes.

“Belarus does not produce oil, does not export it in large volumes. On the contrary, declining oil and gas prices should help Belarus to restore development of its economy. And references to the fact that we are so dependent on oil prices, are wrong, – he said. – The authorities are trying to shuffle off the blame for the poor state of the economy to external factors – so they are constantly making reference to oil and gas prices. This all certainly has some indirect influence – in a sense that it is getting harder for Russians to buy our goods. But there is no recession in the world economy. We should look for marketing outlets.”
